Double E Guest Ranch is a working cattle and horse ranch
inviting its guests to participate in the day to day activities on a real ranch. On our
working New Mexico guest ranch
(dude ranch) we
provide our guests with an opportunity to spend their days with the Wranglers and Cowboys who
live the cowboy life and work at
Double E Ranch.
Feel nature up close and explore a ranch vacation paradise exceptionally beautiful, filled with abundant wildlife and rich in the history of southwest New Mexico. Located in the heart of Apache country, 30 miles northwest of historic Silver City, the Double E Guest Ranch and surrounding territory is the home of Billy the Kid, Geronimo, Judge Roy Bean, "Dangerous" Dan Tucker and Ben Lilly. The 3.3 million acre Gila (HEE-la) National Forest and pristine Gila Wilderness surround us on two sides! A working New Mexico cattle and horse ranch consisting of nearly 30,000 acres, the Double E Guest Ranch is family owned and operated.
Our guest capacity is small - we work
hard to keep it 15 or less, providing plenty
of opportunities for our Staff to offer individual attention and instruction.
Whether you are a horse owner who rides every day or a "city slicker dude" only
riding a few times during the year, if you are interested in improving your
horseback riding skill level,
Double E Ranch can help. It's hands on, sleeves
up, seat in the saddle! Activities can include, but are
not limited to, grooming and tacking horses, feeding livestock, or any combination of gentle or more
challenging horseback riding. There is roping, team penning, round ups and
other activities that
every riding level can participate in, such as gymkhana games in the arena.
You'll participate every day in the conditioning and training of our horses by riding. Learn round pen techniques, if you've got an interest. At the end of the day, pull up a rocking chair, sit back and unwind. That's the sum of the cowboy experience here at Double E Ranch! The atmosphere at Double E Ranch is casual and relaxed. It feels like "family". But, like family, please don't expect to be waited on. You are part of the Double E Team. We encourage our guests to lend a hand, get involved, participate - get dirty! Tell us what your interests are and we'll try to incorporate them into your visit.

Weather
and Climate: Four gentle seasons best
describe the climatic conditions in the Gila National Forest,
Gila Wilderness and Double E Ranch areas. The
latitude, as well as the 5,000 - 7,000 foot elevation
permits maximum enjoyment of the region during any
season. Whether winter or summer, daytime temperatures are
generally pleasant for hiking or horseback riding, and range
from the high 90's in the warmest summer months to mid-40's in winter.
The area enjoys an average of 345 days of glorious
sunshine and clear blue skies annually. For additional

All participants should be in good physical condition and
capable of being on horseback or hiking for a minimum of 4-5
hours each day. A
combination of hiking and horseback riding is encouraged.
